Fake nails aren’t new—but the way they’ve been made hasn’t evolved for men. For years, men who chose to wear artificial nails had two options: adapt press-on nails designed for women or custom-build something at a salon, requiring an extended time commitment. Talons exist because we believed there was a better way.

Here’s the process behind how Talons were created—and why they’re different from traditional press-on nails.

Historically, men doing their nails has never been radical.

Ancient Chinese nobility used long nails as a symbol of status and intellect. In ancient Egypt, men wore nail color as a marker of class and power. More recently, musicians, artists, and cultural leaders—from punk and rock to hip-hop and fashion—have used nails as a form of identity and expression.

What’s been missing isn’t acceptance.

It’s product design.

Despite this long history, modern artificial nails have almost exclusively been built for women—ignoring men’s hands, habits, and aesthetics.

Talons began with a simple question:

What if fake nails for men were designed for men from the start?

Starting with Data, Not Assumptions

The first step in creating Talons wasn’t design—it was measurement.

We collected real measurements of men’s nail beds, analyzing width, length, and curvature across fingers. What we found confirmed what many men already knew: traditional press-on nails don’t fit properly because they’re not engineered for men’s hands.

That data informed everything that followed:

  • Flatter profiles

  • Wider sizing

  • More controlled curvature

  • Lengths that feel intentional, not obstructive

Each Talons set includes 15 nails per hand, allowing for accurate fit rather than forcing users to “make it work.”

Engineering Function Into Artificial Nails

Talons weren’t built as novelty items. They were designed to integrate into real life.

We focused on:

  • Wearability: Nails that work while typing, lifting, creating, or moving through daily life

  • Durability: Reusable artificial nails that hold up beyond one night

  • Ease: Easy on, easy off—no salon commitment required. We rebuilt not just the form of the nails, but the process of applying them, focusing on ease and speed of application.

We also considered behavior. About 21% of men bite their nails, often unconsciously. Talons act as a physical barrier, helping interrupt that habit while your natural nails heal—without shame or waiting for perfection.

This is where Talons move beyond traditional press-on nails: they support habit change, not just aesthetics.

Design with Intention, Not Excess

Once fit and function were established, design came last—on purpose.

Talons designs are minimal, architectural, and textured. They’re meant to feel deliberate rather than decorative. Every detail is intentional, from finish to shape to contrast.

The goal wasn’t to make artificial nails louder.

It was to make them more considered.

When men wear Talons, they don’t feel like they’re performing. They feel like they’ve chosen something—quietly, confidently.

Why Talons Are Different

Talons aren’t press-on nails rebranded for men.

They’re designer fake nails for men, built through measurement, engineering, and respect for how men actually live.

They sit at the intersection of self-care and self-expression, ultimately building confidence.

This isn’t about trend.

It’s about intention.

Men have always worn nails.

Talons are simply the first to build them properly.
