PRO TIPS
PREVENTING A WEAK BOND
Talons should stay on for a minimum of 3-5 days. If they're coming off sooner, please ensure that you are addressing each of the following causes of reduced adhesion:
- Dirty nails will result in a weak bond. Even if your nails are visibly clean, there may be oils and micro-particles that prevent a lasting bond.
- Not pressing down and holding long enough. Make sure to hold the top and sides down well on each nail for at least 5 seconds.
- Coming into contact with water too quickly. Please wait at least 30 minutes after applying before wetting the hands, especially with warm water.
- Your Talons were applied in the wrong direction. The side of the nail where the plastic film sticks out to be peeled from should be placed against the cuticle.
- Talons aren’t trimmed to the same length as your natural nail. Extra length can result in the snagging that may lift the nail.
KEEPING YOUR TALONS LOCKED IN
Our basic steps are simple and work for most men. But if you're looking for an even stronger bond we recommend these industry leading methods to improve adhesion:
- Wash and dry hands completely before getting started.
- Gently remove the shine from your natural nail surface by using the buff side of the nail file.
- Use alcohol wipe on nails to remove dust and oils, let dry before applying Talons.
- Ensure the nail is oriented properly before applying, the side with the small clear tab goes against the cuticle.
- When applying each TALON be sure to press down on the top as well as the sides of the nail, hold down each position for 5 seconds.
- If you're in-between sizes choose the smaller size nail - this can make a big difference in terms of the durability and longevity of the bond.
GENERAL PRO TIPS
- Select and layout all 10 correctly sized Talons before beginning the application process. Selecting Talons that are too big for your natural nail will result in a weak bond around the sides, increasing the ability to snag.
- Avoid immediate hot water or steam after applying Talons as it will loosen the adhesive reducing the effectiveness of the bond.
- Get the fit right the first time. With the film still covering the adhesive, hold each nail up to your finger to gauge the correct sizing. *Removing Talons from your nail once they have been applied will negatively impact adhesion.
