Talons started with a moment of self-expression at Burning Man. Our founder, Sasha, got his nails done in an effort to live the principle of Radical Self-Expression. Suddenly, strangers became friends. Compliments turned into conversations. A simple style choice became a powerful statement.
Meanwhile, Maria—the blue-haired founder of the camp—was on her own journey of expression. For her, Burning Man was more than a festival; it was a living canvas for exploring identity, gender, and style on her own terms. She had long embraced the power of bold aesthetics to reflect the self within.
So when Maria saw Sasha’s nails, she didn’t just notice the look—she recognized the impact. The spark. The untapped potential. But she also saw the problem.
