Love Is Love
Inside and out.
I've always known I was queer.
What took me longer was learning how to let that live in my life - how to accept it, fully, for myself.
For a long time I didn't have the language for it.
What I had instead was expression - ways I could make the outside match the inside. I dyed my hair pink and purple, then blue and silver before cutting it all off. I wore costumes, and eventually had a rainbow mushroom tattood on my foot. Small acts, each one saying - out loud and in color - something I hadn't yet found the words for.
That turned out to be a gift.
Taking what I felt inside and showing it on the outside, being seen the way I actually felt, changed how I move through the world.
It's also one of the reasons I helped Sasha start Talons.
Because self-expression isn't a luxury.
It's how we come to know ourselves, and how we let other people know us too. Everyone deserves channels for that — ways to take pride in their identity and wear it where the world can see.
This is the month we say it loudest. So here it is.
Take pride in who you are. Not only in feeling amazing — though I hope you do — but in the quieter, harder thing underneath it: owning yourself. Claiming the freedom, and the joy, to express that however you choose.
Because love is love.
For who you are.
For who you love.
For the person you're still becoming.
And that is a beautiful thing to feel inside and out.
Designer nails for men are one more way to show it.
Color at the end of every gesture. A statement on your own terms. An invitation, never an apology.
This Pride, wear what you feel.
